Representative Chrissy Houlahan

Dear [firstname],

For many of you, this is the first community update you'll be receiving from me in a while - so hello again! It's a honor to continue serving our community, and I want to begin by personally inviting you to my upcoming town hall. Our School and Community Safety Town Hall will take place on Monday, November 28th at 5:30 p.m. in Downingtown. As always, all are welcome.

In light of a growing number of safety concerns in our community, especially in our schools, I'm bringing together a panel of educators and experts to talk about our path forward. As our federal representative, I will be talking specifically about the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that was signed into law earlier this year. We will take questions during our live question-and-answer period, and I look forward to hearing directly from you about what's on your mind. Please RSVP so we know you are coming and can send helpful reminders.

$228 Million in LIHEAP Grants Available

While I have you, there's some important news about heating your home this winter. Thanks to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and other bills passed by Congress, Pennsylvania is receiving $228 million in LIHEAP funding from the federal government to help low-income families pay for heating this winter. Here’s a quick FAQ:

What is LIHEAP? The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides cash assistance to eligible low-income households with their heating and cooling energy costs, bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, weatherization, and energy-related home repairs.

Who is eligible? Eligibility is based on household income. For example, a family of four with an income of $41,625 or less is eligible. A person who participates in benefit programs such as SNAP, SSI, or TANF, may be automatically eligible. More information here.

How can I apply? Although this is federal funding, the program is administered by the Commonwealth. Applications are available here.

What if I still have questions? More information is online and by calling 866-674-6327.

Serving as our community's representative is the honor of my lifetime, and I hope to hear from you soon about any issue that concerns you.

As always, please contact my office if you need assistance.

Be well and see you soon!

Sincerely,

Chrissy Houlahan Signature
