It’s been a busy month, and I’m excited to tell you about what I’ve been up to here at home in PA. I spent the past few weeks in the district, meeting with community organizations, small businesses, and local leaders.  

I hope you have a few minutes to learn more about what's happening behind the headlines here in Chester and Berks Counties as my team and I continue to work for our community, Commonwealth, and country. In this e-newsletter you’ll read about: 

• My federal funding proposal for the Keystone Valley Fire Department to help first responders better serve our community

• A West Grove company that is bringing new green energy jobs and investment to our region

• How recently passed legislation will help farmers here in southeastern Pennsylvania 

• Federal infrastructure investments to improve the Coatesville Train Station

• Our 66^th town hall taking place Tuesday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m.

To kick off the month back in the district, I met with Captain Marks and his team at the Keystone Valley Fire Department. Earlier this year, our office nominated the Keystone Valley Fire Department to receive a Community Project Funding grant to improve their ambulance services and assist their EMTs. Our proposal is making good progress in Congress so far, and I'll keep working to support their efforts. 

I also had the opportunity to bring together and thank Phoenixville’s first responders and community service organizations one year after Hurricane Ida alongside Mayor Peter Urscheler. The collaborative efforts of our community are a point of pride, and I’m incredibly thankful for the work of our local heroes and proud to support them. You can read more about our visit to Phoenixville's (new!) Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. I know this from my experience as a former business leader and entrepreneur. That's why while I was home in the district this month, I went to visit the Chester County Economic Development Council's new Business Resource Center. 

I was also honored to join Sycamore International and ESS Inc. at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new microgrid at Sycamore International’s Energy Warehouse in West Grove. Sycamore International is an innovative business that extends the usable life of technology assets like laptops by recycling them. By reselling this technology in an environmentally friendly way, Sycamore International helps school districts in our community and beyond save money on tech upgrades.

Following my visit to Sycamore International, I spent time at Walmoore Holsteins dairy farm and Va La Vineyards! While touring these farms, I heard how the pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in our agricultural supply chains. We discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act, recently signed into law by President Biden, will support farmers and lead the way in green technology. Federal resources allocated by the Inflation Reduction Act will help farmers:

• Invest in energy systems that will make their operations even more productive
• Expand conservation programs to protect soil and limit damaging erosion
• Utilize climate-smart practices to reduce greenhouse gas
• Increase necessary carbon storage in soil and trees

As an engineer, I am proud to have supported the energy provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act. This legislation is good for the environment, it’s good for farmers, and business owners, and it's going to lower costs for Pennsylvanians. 

Another important part of ensuring the success of the economy in our district is an investment in our roads, bridges, and water infrastructure. That's why I was thrilled to welcome White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator Mitch Landrieu, Governor Tom Wolf, and other state and community leaders to the Coatesville Train Station for a site walkthrough.

Together, we were able to see exactly how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act directly benefits our community and discuss how the investment of these long-awaited federal funds in our infrastructure will expand domestic manufacturing, support job growth, and improve the lives of Pennsylvanians. For so many of us, our daily commute has been impacted by poor bridge and road conditions and underfunded public transportation. With President Biden signing this bill into law, we are seeing delayed or stalled construction projects, like the rebuilding of the Coatesville Train Station and repairs to Route 30, come to life. 

Constituent services are at the core of who we are and how we work for our community. That's why I'm proud to say our office was recently named the best in Congress for constituent services. I take my responsibility to serve our community's small business owners, seniors, and working families very seriously. As our Representative down in Washington, I'm grateful to have met with so many of you, in person, this month to hear about the issues that impact you most. I mean that.
