Dear [firstname],

In this newsletter you’ll find:

  • Our new explainer video series entitled “Inside Congress”

  • A survey to see what you have questions about

  • Info about how to attend my upcoming telephone town hall

  • Some recent bipartisan good news from DC

  • A constituent success story from working with our office

Inside Congress:

One of my favorite parts of this job is hearing from everyone in our community. I get inspiration, ideas for legislation, and motivation from the messages that we get every day. I have also noticed some common questions come up, and people want to know more about our work in Congress. That’s why I’m starting a new video series called “Inside Congress” to better inform our community. Click below to watch the first episode!

This year I was honored to be appointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. I’ve worked to protect our nation’s classified materials since my time in the Air Force so I’m really familiar with how important these materials are for our national security. This committee is also unique and can seem somewhat secretive – we do deal with top secret material after all – so I thought it would be a good topic to kick off this series. I want to be as accessible and transparent as possible, and that means answering your questions individually but also providing the resources for our community to stay updated on what we’re doing in our office.

What topics would you like to know more about? Please let us know in the survey below, and if there are other questions you have don’t hesitate to write or call our office. We also have an open-door policy at all our offices and have restarted our wall of stars in our new DC office, so if you’re in town please stop in and sign!

What topic do you want us to cover next?

Community Project Funding & its Approval Process

Caucuses & What They Entail

The Rules of Congress

The Services Available to Constituents

Tax Preparation Telephone Town Hall:

With the tax filing deadline coming up in a month, many of you have questions about available resources to help with filing your tax returns. So, I’m making it the focus of my next town hall! and I’ll be joined by some guests who can help with your questions. Please join us live on March 21st at 5:00 p.m. To participate, call (855) 731-4616 or listen on our website at houlahan.house.gov/live.

Bipartisan good news from D.C.:

  • A few weeks ago, I joined my Republican colleagues in voting for a bill, that passed the House, to require President Biden and executive branch to estimate how each executive order would impact inflation. We know that inflation is still affecting Americans (luckily, we have seen some improvements thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act), and I’m committed to working bipartisanly to address increased costs that continue to impact households, institutions, and businesses.

Constituent Success Story:

  • “I received notice from the IRS concerning a refund due to my husband and I for 2020, but we never received it. I was unable to contact the IRS by phone or online! Rep. Houlahan’s staff was professional, persistent, and empathetic in successfully obtaining the refund for me eventually. I truly appreciate all her effort.” - Debbie, Oxford

  • If you need help with a federal agency, contact my office at houlahan.house.gov/services/casework.

Serving as our community's representative is the honor of my lifetime, and I hope to hear from you soon about any federal issue that concerns you.

As always, please contact my office if you need assistance.

Be well and see you soon!

Chrissy Houlahan

U.S. Member of Congress
