News from Chrissy
Dear [firstname],

Our June 2 primary is less than a week away! We've been receiving a number of calls regarding the upcoming election, so we wanted to share the most up-to-date information.

First and foremost, we encourage every eligible member of our community to use their voice and vote, but understand that some folks may have reservations about new procedures. We will address those concerns and more in this brief update.

Exercising Your Right to Vote!

Whether you're a voter in Reading or Oxford, or anywhere in between, you'll find specific information for your county below!

You can find the Chester County Voter Services webpage here, and the Berks County Voter Services webpage here. In addition, the PA Department of State put together a comprehensive list of resources for voters, which can be found at VotesPA.com.

Can I vote in person?

Yes! There will be polling places open in every county on June 2, 2020, from 7:00AM - 8:00PM.

Has my polling location changed?

Possibly. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, some polling places may be consolidated or moved for the June 2 primary election only. Before leaving home on Election Day, confirm your polling location.

Chester County residents can do that here, and Berks County residents can do that here.

What changes can I expect because of COVID-19?

The PA Department of State has issued several recommendations for voters headed to the polls this upcoming Tuesday. They are:

  • Bringing your own blue- or black-ink pen to mark your ballot and limit your exposure to shared surfaces.
  • Being patient. This will be a new experience for everyone involved. You can help by being patient and understanding while you exercise your right to vote.
  • Wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth. This can be a cloth mask or scarf, like you would wear in a grocery store.
  • Practicing good hand hygiene. You may want to bring hand sanitizer with you, if you have it, for your personal use.
  • Maintaining social distance from poll workers and other voters. This means staying about 6 feet apart from other people while you are waiting in line, checking in and voting.
  • Following instructions from poll workers and other election officials. They are there to help things run smoothly.

Can I still request an absentee ballot?

No. The deadline was May 26. In order to participate in our upcoming primary election, you must vote in person at your polling location.

What if I haven't received my absentee ballot yet?

Over 1.3 million absentee ballots have been requested - including thousands per day leading up until the deadline – and this demand has caused delays. You can track the status of your absentee ballot here

I haven't mailed my absentee ballot back yet, and I'm worried it won't make it in time. What should I do?

The deadline for voter services to have received your completed ballot is 8:00PM on June 2, Election Day. If you are concerned your ballot will not be received in time, you can drive to your county's designated ballot drop-off location to submit your ballot.

For Chester County residents, the address is: Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Rd, West Chester, PA.

For Berks County residents, the address is: Berks County Services Center, 633 Court Street, Reading, PA.

If you mailed your ballot too late, or you aren’t sure whether the county received your completed ballot in time, you may be able to vote by provisional ballot at your polling place. If you were sent a mail-in or regular civilian absentee ballot, but your polling place has no record of having received it, you may vote by provisional ballot. However, if the county does receive your voted mail-in or regular civilian absentee ballot in time, that ballot, not your provisional ballot, will be counted. This way, you will of course only have one vote counted.

Will my absentee ballot be accepted at my polling location?

No. If you choose to drop off your absentee ballot, you must do so at your county's designated location (listed above) before 8:00PM on June 2. And remember, only the voter can drop off their ballot.

How do I know that my polling location is safe?

Poll workers are taking extra precautions to keep workers and voters safe. To view the guidance and recommendations from health experts in order to protect public health while providing access to voting, click here
