Dear [salutation]:

As our community’s Representative in Congress, my staff and I are always working to make sure our community and Commonwealth get their fair share of federal funding. Last week, I was excited to welcome White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator Mitch Landrieu, Governor Tom Wolf, and other state and community leaders to show off the progress being made at the Coatesville Train Station.

Just a few months after Hurricane Ida tore through Coatesville and Modena among many other parts of Chester County, Congress passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. For a community needing to rebuild, these federal resources couldn’t have come soon enough. We are now seeing local projects supercharged and slated for construction because of these investments, and last week we saw that federal funding is making a real difference at the Coatesville Train Station.

Houlahan Talks to Foreman, Governor at Coatesville Train Station

The project foreman gives Governor Tom Wolf, PA Rep. Dan Williams, and I updates on the Coatesville train station

Because of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the White House anticipates Pennsylvania receiving more than $11 billion for highway programs, $1.6 billion for bridge repair, and $2.8 billion for public transportation projects. In addition to the train station, federal funding will overhaul nearly 15 miles of Route 30 to make the exits safer for our community’s commuters.

Mayor Landrieu was nice enough to say a few words about my work on this law: “To Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan, she was being modest. The truth of the matter is something like this doesn't happen like accident. It happens by purpose and by courage, and she along with some Democrats and courageous Republicans actually did something that everybody in this country agreed on.”

Coatesville City Council President Linda Lavender-Norris added, “The project itself is truly amazing, and we’ve been working on it for quite a while. It won’t be long until you look down the 4th Avenue side of Fleetwood and see a beautiful new train station.” I can’t wait to come back and see the finished product!
