Gun violence is an epidemic. |
|
After an incredibly difficult year battling Covid-19, we still find ourselves confronting the epidemic of gun violence. Gun violence prevention isn't a Democrat or Republican issue, it's an American issue that we as a Congress must address. In the past month, we've been horrified by shootings across our nation, and just last week, a shooting at a Wawa in Lehigh County killed a husband and father of three who was simply getting gas.
TOMORROW: Rep. Lucy McBath Joins Us for Gun Violence Prevention Town Hall Tomorrow, I will be hosting our third town hall in our Antiracism Policy series, where we discuss writing and passing policies that will address systemic racism in our country and build a more equitable society. We will be focusing on gun violence, the disproportionate impact it has on communities of color, and legislative action to create a safer America for all. I will be joined by my friend and colleague, Representative Lucy McBath of Georgia's 6th Congressional District. She is a leader in Congress on gun violence prevention. In 2012, Rep. Lucy McBath's 17-year-old son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed following an argument at a gas station in Florida about loud music. She endured a parent's worst nightmare and committed herself to creating a country where no parent would have to receive the life-changing call she did. Tomorrow night, we'll hear her story and talk about our joint efforts in Congress to build safer communities for everyone in our country. Please join us for this important dialogue tomorrow, April 27, at 7:00PM by dialing 855-731-4616.
As always, we invite you to call one of our offices or message us through our contact form about this or any other issue. It is the honor of my lifetime to serve our community in Pennsylvania. Please take care and be well. Respectfully,
