Dear [firstname],
If you visit my offices in West Chester, Reading, or D.C., you will find our walls covered with signatures from constituents like you. Over the years, students, parents, servicemembers and veterans, former interns and staff, business owners, and so many others from PA-06 have written messages about the issues they care about and what our community means to them.
Through difficult decisions and busy weeks, your words surround me as reminders of what’s most important. This week, I am highlighting some of the messages on our walls to show how your feedback guides my work in Congress.

“Thank you for an excellent tour and excellent service to your constituents!”

In my D.C. office, I am always happy to see signatures from constituents who enjoyed touring the U.S. Capitol. If you are planning to visit Washington, D.C. this summer, my team can help you get tickets for tours of the Capitol Building, the White House, and other attractions in the area. While you’re in town, we would love to see you at our office, where you can add your own name to our walls.
I am excited to share another opportunity for constituents to make your mark in our offices. As we approach America’s 250th birthday, I want to celebrate the places that make you proud to call Pennsylvania home. That’s why we’re launching PA in Pictures, a district-wide project collecting photos of your favorite memories and meaningful places in Pennsylvania.
From now until Friday, June 26th, you can drop off or mail photos to my West Chester and Reading office (please share 3x5 or 4x6 photos, include your name, and tell us when and where the photo was taken). My office is looking forward to creating and displaying a collage of the places across Pennsylvania that mean the most to all of us.

“Thank you for supporting Pennsylvania’s doctors and the patients we care for!”

Across our walls, many of you have written messages about healthcare and the need to support patients and families. I couldn’t agree more. Just this week, I visited Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. to hear from parents and medical staff about how paid leave helps us through the most important moments of life. From parents who just welcomed a new baby to those with children suffering from chronic illnesses, paid leave can transform families’ lives for the better.
I visited along with Rep. Bice (R, OK-05), my co-chair of the Bipartisan Paid Leave Working Group, because we have real solutions to offer more paid leave to more people – solutions that Congress could pass right now. As momentum for our More Paid Leave for More Families Act continues to build, my conversations with moms and medical professionals at Children’s National reminded me once again what this work is all about. Paid leave is one of the best ways we can support families and it’s time to make it a reality for more people.

Beyond the fight for paid parental and medical leave, I am also working to address a breadth of other issues that make healthcare so expensive. Hearing directly from our community helps me advocate on your behalf in Congress, so if you have struggled with rising healthcare costs, I hope you might share your story with me. Whether it’s unaffordable prescription drugs, unexpected medical bills, or skyrocketing insurance premiums, your experience matters and I want to hear from you.

“Thank you for your support of STEM! ❤️ a HEP (physics) Ph.D. from Phoenixville”
|
As an engineer myself, I know how important it is for Congress to support STEM (that’s science, technology, engineering, and math) initiatives. When young students have a passion for STEM, we should be helping them foster their interest and skills. And since women are still underrepresented in STEM career fields, I care particularly deeply about supporting girls with passions and talents for STEM.
That’s why I am excited to celebrate the incredible fourth graders at Brecknock Elementary in Mohnton, who won first place at the PA Invention Convention. They created an innovative construction and excavation solution, and I’m rooting for them as they compete at the national convention later this month!

|
No matter where their paths lead, I hope this early experience as successful inventors shows these students how capable they are. Young girls in STEM can become Congresswomen, Ph.D. physicists, or anything else they set their minds to, because our PA-06 schools prepare them to thrive.

"Thank you for the USAFA help and meeting with Civil Air Patrol”

Signatures from fellow servicemembers and veterans have a special place in my heart. As a third-generation veteran and a member of both the House Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, I work each and every day in Congress to support our military community. Right now, that means spending a lot of time crafting and amending this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA.
The NDAA is how we fund or “authorize” every dollar of our defense spending and, these days, it’s one of the only bills Congress reliably passes each year. It is one of the most important bills we work on, but most people never hear anything about it. So, in this and future

newsletters, I will break down the process involved to get it passed and the policies that are in it.
Yesterday, the House Armed Services Committee began “marking up,” or editing and amending, the bill. Look out for next week’s newsletter, where I will share more about the wins we secured in this year’s NDAA, and the policies we continue to fight for.
As you may know, Committees in Congress must vote to pass bills before those the full House of Representatives can consider voting on it. This means that, once we finish marking up the bill, the House Armed Services Committee will vote on it. After it passes in Committee, the full House of Representatives will vote on it. After that, it’s on to the Senate and then the President’s desk.
Making this a strong bill is a long process. We likely won’t vote on final passage of the bill until this fall. But every step of the way, I’ll be fighting for an NDAA that protects our servicemembers, our community, and our country.
