Things are busy down in Washington, D.C. again this week as we work alongside the Senate and White House to fund our government, pass the Farm Bill, support democracies abroad, negotiate the annual defense bill, and more. Right now, our country is operating under what’s called a continuing resolution – a temporary spending agreement – which expires on November 17. If we are not able to agree to year-long funding, or pass another continuing resolution by then, the federal government won’t have the funds to operate and will shut down.  

Working with my colleagues across the aisle, I am doing everything in my power to make sure a shutdown doesn’t happen. While I remain cautiously optimistic that cooler heads will prevail, as they did earlier this year, I understand that many of you might have questions about what this means to you, the services that our federal government provides and legislation that I’m working to get across the finish line before the end of the year. So, today, I’m announcing my 80th town hall to provide you updates from D.C.!
