In the past couple of weeks, I’ve heard from thousands of residents of Berks and Chester Counties; please be assured that every call is listened to and every email is read. What I’m hearing from you is that there is a lot on our minds right now – hopes, worries, and everything in between. I share those complicated feelings, and I wrote about some of them in Monday’s newsletter. Especially now, I want to make sure I understand where our community stands on a host of issues, which is why I’m including a special survey in this update.

I hope you’ll take a moment to fill out my survey and read additional updates about my Questions for Chrissy Telephone Town Hall (happening tomorrow), an Eco Heroes Challenge my office is hosting for students, a bill I introduced to help shore up and secure our infant formula supply chain, and more!

SURVEY: What issue is top of mind for you right now?

If you attended June’s telephone town hall, you may have participated in a survey I hosted for everyone dialing in. That survey helped give me a snapshot of the priorities of those on the phone with me. Now, I am launching a similar survey for our entire community!

Reminder: Join my Questions for Chrissy Telephone Town Hall this week!

In addition to surveys like the one in this newsletter, I regularly hold town halls as another way to hear from our community. I wanted to remind you that this Thursday, July 18, at 12 p.m., I am hosting my 88th town hall since joining Congress!

This town hall is an opportunity for you to ask questions on various federal issues, and you can join online at houlahan.house.gov/live or over the phone by dialing 855-731-4616 at the time of the event. Click here to RSVP.

Do you know a student who loves the environment and wants a summer challenge?

I need your help to spread the word about our first-ever Eco Heroes Challenge! For kids in kindergarten through eighth grade, we’ve created a list of activities that students can complete to become a Houlahan Eco Hero. The challenge is simple – see below for step-by-step instructions, and I’ll recognize everyone who completes the Challenge next month!

Read the online guide (or a printer-friendly version here) to find the checklist that correlates to the student's grade level.

Once the student has decided to participate in the challenge (and we hope they do!), let our office know by having an adult register them here.

Complete the challenge by July 29 and send in your completed checklist and relevant pictures/videos to pa06.info@mail.house.gov for the opportunity to be recognized by our office!

There is a lot of work to be done to improve our environment. And we can all help. As an engineer, I have spent my life problem-solving and looking at ways to make this a healthier planet. Additionally, I was a chemistry teacher and had the opportunity to teach the building blocks of our world. As our community’s federal representative, I founded the Women in STEM Caucus and co-chair the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus to bring together other representatives to work on climate solutions. So, I love this stuff! And I think our kids will, too.

The Eco Heroes Challenge will show how everyday items and actions can improve our environment. No effort is too small!

INTRODUCED: My bipartisan legislation to prevent another infant formula shortage

In 2022, I joined state and local leaders to tout state funding for ByHeart, a Reading-based infant formula manufacturer

It wasn't long ago that the infant formula crisis had parents across America worried about meeting their babies' nutritional needs. While that concern has abated, we must address weaknesses in our supply chain to ensure we never find ourselves with empty shelves again.

One way we do that is by supporting small, domestic infant formula manufacturers like ByHeart right here in our community. Creating tax credits for these manufacturers would promote competition, sustain production growth, and ensure greater access to infant formula options for families nationwide. The INFANT Tax Credit Act is a crucial step toward improving supply chain resiliency, and I'm proud to work with Rep. Zach Nunn (R-IA) on this bipartisan effort. Figuring out federal agencies on your own can be tricky — that's why my office is here to help! We recently helped Judy from West Chester reinstate her Medicare Part B so she could receive the treatment she needed.
