I'm checking in to share what I and my team have been working on for our community, Commonwealth, and country. In this e-newsletter you’ll learn about:

• Five bipartisan, pragmatic bills that just passed the U.S. House; one was just signed into law to help cut costs for consumers
• My recent town hall focused on common-sense gun violence legislation to safeguard our schools and community
• Our 62^nd town hall taking place this Monday, June 27 in West Grove
• How we helped a constituent in Landenberg resolve his benefits issue with Social Security and Medicare

Here in Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, we are a purple community. My job is to represent us all, not a particular political party, so it is important to me that my team and I advance bipartisan, common-sense legislation. Here are just a few of the pieces of legislation that saw action last week:

• My Women-Owned Small Business Program Transparency Act passed the House with bipartisan support. This legislation improves supervision and accountability which will help to level the playing field for our nation’s female entrepreneurs.
• Two of my amendments were included in The Financial Services Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Economic Justice Act. The first would revise the Young Entrepreneurs Program to ensure that minority entrepreneurs will receive the financial support they need to succeed. The second would require credit unions to make information about their financial education programs transparent and accessible.
• I also helped pass The Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act. This legislation will lower prices for America’s families in the grocery aisle and at the gas pump, by increasing federal support for America’s farmers and ranchers.
• I cosponsored and helped pass the bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act which will increase federal support for wildlife and habitat conservation efforts across the U.S., helping to protect America’s biodiversity for generations to come.
• I helped pass the bipartisan Ocean Shipping Reform Act to address supply chain disruptions, shipping delays, and rising costs fueling inflation for Pennsylvanians and all Americans. This bill was signed into law by President Biden.

Recently, we held a gun violence prevention telephone town hall to discuss how gun violence and mental health impact our schools, communities, and country. Our panel discussion also updated the community on my efforts to advance meaningful legislation in the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. These proposals include improving background checks, keeping ghost guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals, and increasing government transparency by breaking the package into individual votes. 

Together, we must continue to have these hard, but necessary conversations addressing the root causes of these devastating mass shootings. As our community's Representative, I hear you and I know how important it is to enact common-sense reforms that safeguard our kids and our community while also respecting responsible gun owners. As I continue working to do exactly that, I hope you’ll stay in touch with our office and know that I will keep you informed about my efforts.
