Houlahan Votes to Restore Democracy and Passes Her Legislation to Secure American Elections

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) voted to pass H.R. 1, the For the People Act, which aims to restore our democracy, strengthen voting rights and clear the way to the ballot box for millions of eligible American voters. She is a cosponsor of the legislation.

“Our democracy is at its strongest when people participate,” said Houlahan. “H.R. 1 takes a crucial step towards realizing the vision our Founders had: a country by and for the people. I’m proud to help usher this bill through the House once again.”

This historic legislation included her Stop Supporting Foreign Interference in Our Democracy Act, which takes critical steps towards safeguarding our elections against foreign adversaries.

Securing our country means securing our elections,” said Houlahan. “My Stop Supporting Foreign Interference in Our Democracy Act makes it easier to prosecute Americans who knowingly provide assistance of any kind to foreign powers attempting to interfere in our elections. This legislation is crucial to our national security, and I’m proud to have it included in our For the People Act.”

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee.
