Rep. Houlahan Votes to Re-Open the Treasury Department and Ensure Pennsylvania Families Get Tax Refunds Without Delay

WASHINGTON – Yesterday, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) voted to pass the FY 2019 Department of the Treasury and IRS appropriations bill. This bill will reopen the Treasury Department and ensure that the IRS is ready to bring their employees back to work to issue tax refunds without delay this year. Each year, approximately 5 million Pennsylvanians receive an average tax refund of $2,643.

“Pennsylvania families should not suffer while we get our government functioning again,” said Houlahan. “Within hours of taking office, I voted on a funding package previously passed by Senate Republicans to reopen the federal government and end this shutdown. Yesterday, I voted on legislation to reopen the Treasury Department and IRS and ensure that our hardworking families in Pennsylvania receive their tax refunds promptly. I will continue to work to serve our district and restore a functioning American government.”

Representative Chrissy Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She’s in her first term representing Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County.
