No matter where you live in Chester County, resident alike have been celebrating the Phillies heading to the World Series this year, writes Fran Maye for The Daily Local News.
Several Chester County residents either attended a National League Championship Series game, watched it on their home TVs, or have a sought-after World Series ticket to see the Phillies. So, whether they’ve been fans for decades or recently hoped on the bandwagon, it’s something that everyone can bond over.
Here are several reactions from around the county:
“We were fortunate enough to get standing-room tickets to the LCS. It’s fun to see our city on the national stage,” said Chester County Commissioner Josh Maxwell said, “and to get there with our best player hitting a home run. Baseball has a special place in this country and to see our fans showing enthusiasm for our city and fans is a lot of fun.”
West Chester resident Alex Christy was ecstatic about the team winning the NLCS.
“It’s unexpected,” said Christy. “It looked like they were kind of petering out. It’s an exciting time, the Eagles are undefeated and every day there is something to watch. It will be a crazy week.”
U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan, who lives in Easttown and her husband, is a huge Phillies fans who will be watching the games from home.
“We are so proud of this team, and I want them to know I’ll be rooting for them in the World Series,” she said.
