WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) issued the following statement:
"Today we had a choice – a choice between chaos and order. Both Republicans and Democrats came together and chose order so we can continue to do the work of the American people. It's incredibly frustrating when a small group of extremists believe that their personal politics and egos are more important than the collective will of the House. By and large, Americans agree we need practical, sensible solutions to the issues facing our nation. We need to shore up the economy, secure our border, reauthorize the FAA, protect our freedoms, support our democratic allies, and so much more. Legislative priorities like these should be the work of the House, not a spurious Motion to Vacate that will do nothing but divide and delay the important work before us. To be clear, I maintain many, many fundamental differences with Speaker Johnson, and that has not changed. However, as a veteran and now a member of Congress, it’s important to put country over party. My vote reflected my sincere hope that we can move past this distraction and return to serving Pennsylvanians and all Americans." Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. She is the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award which “recognizes members who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership and constructive governing necessary to move our country forward” and the Congressional Management Foundation’s 2022 Democracy Award for best Constituent Services in Congress.
