WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), shared the following statement on her vote against the American Relief Act:
"I voted no tonight on a bill that was hastily drafted and incomplete. Clearly, I was not alone in my assessment. Rather than meeting the 2/3 majority needed for the vote to pass, the vote was defeated in a 174-235-1 decision. Thirty-seven of the Republican majority (who drafted the bill) also found the legislation to be insufficient and inadequate. They voted no, as well.
"I look forward to this bill being negotiated by our leadership from both sides of the aisle. I remain ready to vote on a more responsible, representative, serious, and complete effort," said Houlahan.
