WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) alongside New Democrat Coalition Members, Gerry Connolly (VA-11), and Reps. Jason Crow (CO-06), and Seth Moulton (MA-06), who attended the Munich Security Conference over the weekend, issued a joint statement strongly condemning President Trump’s rhetoric toward Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “President Trump is playing right into Putin’s hands, spewing lies and Russian propaganda that embolden an aggressive authoritarian regime, threatening the very existence of Ukraine and the self-determination of the brave Ukrainians fighting for their freedom. “Trump is either blindly ignorant to the realities of Russia’s brutal assault on Ukraine or deliberately siding with Putin, a violent dictator and war criminal. Regardless of his intentions, Trump’s baseless attacks on President Zelenskyy and attempts to negotiate with Russia without Ukraine or our European allies threaten America’s status as a trusted democratic partner and powerful force against authoritarianism. “We are disturbed by the silence from our Republican colleagues – many of whom repeatedly supported bipartisan aid packages to Ukraine throughout Russia’s criminal war. In this crucial moment for democracy around the world, we call on Congressional Republicans to fight for truth and freedom, not bow to a dictator who threatens everything America stands for.” ### Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, engineer, entrepreneur, educator, and nonprofit leader. She is serving her fourth consecutive term representing the people of Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. Houlahan is the first female veteran named as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee’s Military Personnel Subcommittee and is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. |
