My Vote on the Continuing Resolution

Washington, September 19, 2025 | Errin Cecil-Smith ((202) 225-4315)

I voted against today’s Continuing Resolution.

The Republicans refuse to work with Democrats on any reasonable and bipartisan funding bill. Their budget remains theirs and theirs alone—and it is both bankrupt and hollow.

Additionally, my Republican colleagues have provided no assurance that if Democrats do cooperate, our collective work will not be summarily and unconstitutionally undone and overwritten by the Administration (as was done with the Rescissions).

I cannot support the Republicans’ ongoing destruction of the country’s economy, health and safety.

When they are willing to work together, and willing to commit to Congress’ Constitutional authorities, I will be ready too.
