Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) released the following statement on the Conference Report and the possibility of President Trump declaring a potential national emergency. “I am pleased that we were able to come together with a strong bipartisan, bicameral framework that will keep our government open, secure our borders, and make key investments in economic development, environmental protection, and infrastructure. This is how our government should work” said Houlahan. “I urge the President to sign this bipartisan compromise so we can effectively secure our borders. Declaring a national emergency is irresponsible, draws from funding already appropriated for other vital programs, puts an unnecessary strain on our troops, and could lead to unintended consequences for our national priorities. This is not how our government should work.” Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She’s in her first term representing Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. ### |
