Rep. Houlahan Statement on Troop Withdrawal from Syria

Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) released the following statement on the approaching deadline for the withdrawal of U.S. Forces from Syria amid reports that American allies in Europe have turned down a request to keep their troops in Syria after U.S. withdrawal.

“I have deep concerns over President Trump’s abrupt decision to withdraw all U.S. troops from Syria by the end of April” said Houlahan. “This decision appears to have been made in haste and could have devastating consequences that could further destabilize the Middle East, fray our international alliances, and harm our national security. I urge the President to reconsider his decision and work with his military advisors to develop a thoughtful strategy to defeat ISIS and bring an end to the humanitarian conflict in Syria.

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She’s in her first term representing Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Small Business Committee.
