Representative Houlahan Urges Transparency with Mueller Report and Protection of American Elections

WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) issued the following statement on Attorney General Barr’s summary of the Special Counsel’s report: “I am grateful to special counsel Robert Mueller and his team for their thorough investigation, reinforcing that we are a nation built on the rule of law” said Houlahan. “Few special investigations have had such significant results in just two years’ time: 34 indictments with seven guilty pleas or convictions — including the President’s campaign manager, personal attorney, and National Security Advisor. We have seen a summary from the Attorney General, and we should all be relieved that it appears to indicate that there was no collusion from the Administration with foreign states regarding the election interference that took place in the 2016 presidential election. Now the full report must be made public to both Congress and to the American people. I hope that the Administration will work with Congress to protect the integrity of our electoral process for 2020 and beyond from those who would seek to undermine the will of the American people. Releasing this report will help us understand what happened in the 2016 election to help us prepare for the 2020 election. I look forward to Congress continuing to fulfill its constitutional obligation of legislating, appropriating funds, and conducting oversight. Most importantly, I will continue to work every day to best serve the people of the 6th District of Pennsylvania, our Commonwealth, and our country.” Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She’s in her first term representing Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Small Business Committee. ###
