WASHINGTON – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) met with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, White House Counselor to the President Steve Ricchetti and White House Director of Legislative Affairs Louisa Terrell. She was joined by her fellow leaders of the New Democrat Coalition. Among topics discussed were building back the economy with an emphasis on small businesses and job creation, infrastructure and strengthening the Affordable Care Act to ensure more people have access to quality, affordable health care.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to meet with the Biden Administration at the White House today,” said Houlahan. “I wanted to speak directly to the issues impacting our community – namely crushing this virus, getting people safely back to work, creating new, good-paying jobs for Pennsylvanians of all skill levels and increasing access to quality, affordable health care. The Biden Administration is clear in its vision for our Commonwealth – one where every Pennsylvanian can earn a living wage, be healthy and feel safe. I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver results to the working people who sent me here.”

“Like President Biden, New Dems believe the challenges we face are too great to get stymied by partisan gridlock and we must make real progress on our nation’s greatest challenges,” said New Democrat Coalition Chair Suzan DelBene. “Today we had a productive meeting with senior White House officials to discuss maintaining the majority and our priorities for the American Jobs Plan and American Family Plan. We look forward to continuing our work with the Biden-Harris administration and key committees to drive this process in Congress and build back better. I'm grateful for Rep. Houlahan's leadership and focus on creating new, good paying jobs in her district and across the country."

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee.
