CHESTER COUNTY – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) is marking the first round of child tax credits for working families across Pennsylvania. Families received up to $300 a month for each child under age 6 and up to $250 a month for each one ages 6 to 17. Across our country today, nearly 60 million children will be assisted by $15 billion dollars in first payments in these child tax credits

“Investing in our kids is investing in our country’s future,” said Houlahan. “That’s why I fought to get the child tax credit across the finish line and signed into law. Let’s be clear – this tax credit for working families will provide them economic opportunities and choices that may not have otherwise been available. This money will go a long way towards empowering both kids and their parents to have their shot at the American dream.”

“We know from the data presented in the Fund’s Blueprint Report that many working families in Chester County struggle and are forced to make difficult trade-offs between ensuring their children are safe and cared for and being able to financially provide for their family,” said Michelle Legaspi Sanchez, Executive Director, The Fund for Women and Girls. “That’s why the child tax credit will be a critical resource.  It could make all the difference in what options are available to families, particularly working moms, when it comes to childcare and supporting their children’s development. The ability to make that investment in children will be far-reaching for generations.  We are so grateful to Representative Houlahan for standing with local families by being a champion on this provision.”

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee.
