Rep. Houlahan's NO Vote on the Continuing Resolution

Houlahan Votes NO on Continuing Resolution, Citing GOP Attacks on Health Care, Affordability, and American Leadership

“Every American deserves access to affordable, quality health care,” said Houlahan. “Unfortunately, this Republican majority has spent the past ten months pushing legislation to strip away health insurance coverage, slash Medicaid and Medicare, make prescription drugs more expensive and weaponize hunger to play to their base. I cannot support legislation that intentionally harms the majority of Americans while rewarding billionaires and lawmakers themselves."

Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) voted NO on the short-term continuing resolution brought forward by House Republican leadership, citing the majority’s continued efforts to undermine health care, raise costs for working families, and weaken America’s standing in the world.

“Every American deserves access to affordable, quality health care," said Houlahan. “Unfortunately, this Republican majority has spent the past ten months pushing legislation to strip away health insurance coverage, slash Medicaid and Medicare, make prescription drugs more expensive and weaponize hunger to play to their base. I cannot support legislation that intentionally harms the majority of Americans while rewarding billionaires and lawmakers themselves.

While the CR vote today reopens the federal government and keeps it funded until January 31, it does nothing to address the real harm the nation is suffering under President Trump and his Administration. It fails the basic test of governing responsibly,” Houlahan continued.

“Our nation needs a budget that strengthens — not sabotages — our families’ economic security, health, and standing in the world. I remain ready to work with anyone, on either side of the aisle, to deliver a responsible, bipartisan bill that reflects the needs and values of the American people.”
