Houlahan Recognized by U.S. Chamber of Commerce for Pro-Business Policies

Advocate for American Business award comes amidst several small business awards for Houlahan’s advocacy in 117th Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) was recognized as a recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Advocate for American Business award. The national award applauds Members of Congress for their “support for pro-growth and pro-business policies as well as bipartisanship” and is determined through a cumulative score system.

“The success of our local economy is only possible because of our small business owners—I’m proud to have their backs,” said Houlahan. “As an entrepreneur, I know that maintaining and growing a business is difficult under normal circumstances, let alone in the aftermath of a global pandemic that fueled supply chain disruptions and inflation. Through my work on the Small Business and Armed Services Committees, I helped fix broken supply chains, supported research and development right here in America, and championed crucial legislation to spur small business innovation. I’m extremely honored by this recognition, and I look forward to continuing to serve the businesses of Chester and Berks Counties and our nation in the weeks and months ahead.”

The Advocate for American Business award is given to qualifying members every congressional term. It is not an endorsement by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

"Rep. Chrissy Houlahan is an entrepreneur, veteran, educator, and leader who has delivered results for the constituents and businesses of Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District,” said Kenneth Johnson, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Government Affairs. “Rep. Houlahan deeply understands the challenges facing business owners, workers, and families in southeastern Pennsylvania. She played a key role in passing the bipartisan infrastructure law and CHIPS and Science Act. The U.S. Chamber is proud to recognize Congresswoman Houlahan.”

This latest recognition comes on the heels of Houlahan receiving several small business awards:  the 2022 Milton Stewart Award, awarded by the Small Business Technology Council; the 2022 Champion of Small Business Investing Award, presented by the Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA); and the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award for the 117th Congress, awarded by the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee. She is the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award which “recognizes members who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership and constructive governing necessary to move our country forward” and the Congressional Management Foundation’s 2022 Democracy Award for best Constituent Services in Congress.
