Fixing Our Government

Pennsylvania state icon

I believe government should be transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves. I am working to strengthen ethics rules, cut waste, and make Washington work better. While Congress isn’t always willing to police itself, I am advancing reforms that restore trust. Read more about my policy priorites below.

Restraining the Executive Branch

  • Restore the ability of Presidents to be prosecuted for crimes committed while in office

  • Narrow the pardon so its application is not used to influence an investigation, self-pardons, pardon family members

  • Require all Executive Orders to be approved by Congress within 90 days or they expire

  • Require the President and immediate family to release their tax returns each year

  • Require the President to place all investments in a blind trust for the duration of their service

Asserting Congressional Authority and Increasing its Effectiveness

  • Improve the work calendar with block scheduling and 5-day work weeks so members spend less time traveling and more time working

  • Increase incentives for bipartisan compromise by guaranteeing regular order and floor votes for all bills cosponsored by 2/3 of the House

  • Increase opportunities for members to build relationships by supporting conference committees, bipartisan member space near the floor, and bipartisan retreats

  • Require 80% of Ambassadors to be confirmed within 90 days of Inauguration and require the Senate to vote up or down on a SCOTUS nomination unless the President’s term ends within 90 days

  • Establish guidelines for how agencies work with Congress for casework and policy development and implementation

Modernizing Our Elections

  • Fully fund the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC)

  • Mandate nonpartisan redistricting in every state

  • Mandate non-partisan, open primaries in every state

  • Make voting by mail permanent in every state

  • Require disclosure of all campaign contributions over $200
