Gun Violence

I refuse to accept gun violence as a fact of life in America. I believe we can protect both public safety and constitutional rights. Whether Democrats or Republicans hold the gavel, I am championing commonsense solutions proven to save lives.

Keeping Dangerous Guns Away from Dangerous People

  • Require a background check for every gun purchase in America, no matter if the gun was sold in a store, at a gun show, or online.

  • Make it illegal to sell or own an unregistered or homemade gun, like so-called “ghost guns.”

  • Restore the assault weapons ban that was in place during the 1990s and significantly reduced crime and gun deaths (including the deaths of police officers) during the 10 years it existed nationwide.

  • Raise the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21, while preserving the right that exists in Pennsylvania for someone younger than 21 to use a gun under a parent’s supervision.

  • Require safe and locked storage of all firearms, which would dramatically reduce the number of gun thefts and accidental shootings of children in particular.
