Rep. Houlahan Recognized for Outstanding Bipartisan Leadership and Service in Congress

Houlahan was presented the Legislative Action Award by the Bipartisan Policy Center during her Civics Town Hall in Downingtown, PA

DOWNINGTOWN, PA – Last night, Representative Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) accepted the Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Legislative Action Award for her enduring commitment to bipartisanship. According to the BPC, the award “…is presented to members in recognition of their willingness to bridge divides to forge pragmatic solutions to the challenges confronting our nation. These leaders show that, even in an increasingly polarized country, there is much we agree on – and much we can achieve.”

Rep. Houlahan accepted the award during her 78th town hall. Fittingly, the topic of her town hall was civics.

“When Democrats and Republicans work together, our nation prospers. Representing a truly bipartisan community here in Pennsylvania has reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and unity,” said Houlahan. “I’m humbled by this recognition. It is not just a testament to the values I was raised on but also a reflection of the values held dear by so many Americans. We all want to see a government that works together to address the many challenges we face – I’m proud to be at the forefront of that effort. I remain steadfast in my dedication to crafting legislation that prioritizes the needs of the American people above all else. Together, with a commitment to bipartisanship, we can continue to deliver real solutions for our nation.”

Announcing the award, BPC Action President Michele Stockwell said, “Rep. Houlahan and the other recipients of this year’s Legislative Action Award exemplify the kind of constructive leadership required by some of the most pressing issues of the day. Simply put, these legislators are getting things done in service to their constituents and the country. We are grateful for their work and understanding that members can work together without sacrificing principles.”

Houlahan is an Air Force veteran, an engineer, a serial entrepreneur, an educator, and a nonprofit leader. She represents Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, which encompasses Chester County and southern Berks County. She serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. She is the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award which “recognizes members who demonstrate the bipartisan leadership and constructive governing necessary to move our country forward” and the Congressional Management Foundation’s 2022 Democracy Award for best Constituent Services in Congress.
